Afghanistan’s glamorous designers
In a far cry from the daily images of Afghanistan, glamorous outfits designed and made in the war-torn country are being showcased in London.
The charity behind the event is hoping to promote up-and-coming Afghan designers and use the proceeds to help educate women in Afghanistan.

Sony workers take boss hostage
Workers at the French arm of Sony prevented their chief executive from leaving the plant in the south west of the country, essentially locking him in overnight.
They then released him and other executives after apparently securing better redundancy terms.

Nine dead in Turkish Airlines plane crash
At least nine people have been killed and 50 others injured in a plane crash in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Turkish Airlines flight 1951 from Istanbul came down just three kilometres short of the runway at Schiphol Airport.
